Svartvik Metalworks was founded in 1994 to provide exquisite craftsmanship using rare skills and the finest tools.

Our first clients included Cranbook Educational Community where we fabricated components for the new Woodward Ave. entrance – designed by Dan Hoffman – and an arrival area by Finnish architect, Juhani Pallasmaa. Svartvik also designed and produced a series of prototype science exhibits for the Cranbrook Institute of Science. We fabricated metalwork for the Henry Ford Museum and Belle Isle Aquarium. Restaurants, hospitals, interior designers and collectors were early supporters of our efforts and the business thrived until we relocated to Oakland, CA in 1998.

Since then, we have had the privilege of selling our artwork in some of the finest galleries and stores. We have worked on numerous historic and prestigious projects for clients including Stanford University and the City of San Francisco. We also make metalwork for private clients, other artists, designers and collectors. Every project gets the benefit of decades of experience, an unrivaled collection of specialized tooling and a belief that objects of exceptional beauty still have a place in our world.
